What it means
The Yang Blade is the branch where a yang Day Master is at its Peak, one step past Prosperity: full strength with nowhere further to go. Strength beyond what is needed becomes an edge, and so it is called a blade. It is read as courage, competitiveness, quick decisions and a refusal to back down.
For Wood, Fire, Metal and Water it is the branch of the Day Master’s own element in the opposite polarity, which makes it a Rob Wealth. Earth follows Fire by convention.
How to find it
Look up your Day Master. If that branch appears in any pillar, the pillar carries the Yang Blade.
| Day Master | Yang Blade |
|---|---|
| 甲 Gap (Yang Wood) | 卯 Myo (Rabbit) |
| 丙 Byeong (Yang Fire) | 午 O (Horse) |
| 戊 Mu (Yang Earth) | 午 O (Horse) |
| 庚 Gyeong (Yang Metal) | 酉 Yu (Rooster) |
| 壬 Im (Yang Water) | 子 Ja (Rat) |
SajuPaste marks the Yang Blade for yang Day Masters only. Schools disagree on whether yin Day Masters have one and where it falls, so it is left out.
Reading it
- Professions with a blade or a weapon: surgeons, soldiers, police, chefs, athletes. The star wants a legitimate use for its edge.
- With Seven Killings in the chart it forms 羊刃駕殺, blade and killings matched: one of the classic patterns of command.
- Because it is a Rob Wealth, readers also check money and partnerships: the blade cuts Wealth.
- A clash against the Yang Blade branch is read as the time when the edge shows: accidents, operations, confrontations.
What to watch
Temper and haste. The traditional warnings are about injury and conflict; the modern ones are about pushing too hard, taking physical risks and winning arguments at the cost of relationships. A weak Day Master, on the other hand, is glad of a Yang Blade: it is the strongest root a yang stem can have.
