What it means
Indirect Wealth is the element the Day Master controls in the same polarity: for Gap (Yang Wood), 戊 (Yang Earth). If Direct Wealth is the salary, Indirect Wealth is everything else: trading, investment, commissions, side businesses, luck. It is money that moves rather than money that sits.
The character that goes with it is outgoing and generous, quick to see an opportunity and comfortable spending in order to earn. Tradition reads Indirect Wealth as the father in any chart, and in a male chart as romance.
Which stem is your Indirect Wealth
A ten god is a relationship, so it depends on your Day Master. Find your Day Master on the left; the stem on the right is your Indirect Wealth. A branch counts as Indirect Wealth when its main hidden stem is that stem.
| Day Master | Its Indirect Wealth |
|---|---|
| 甲 Gap (Yang Wood) | 戊 Mu (Yang Earth) |
| 乙 Eul (Yin Wood) | 己 Gi (Yin Earth) |
| 丙 Byeong (Yang Fire) | 庚 Gyeong (Yang Metal) |
| 丁 Jeong (Yin Fire) | 辛 Sin (Yin Metal) |
| 戊 Mu (Yang Earth) | 壬 Im (Yang Water) |
| 己 Gi (Yin Earth) | 癸 Gye (Yin Water) |
| 庚 Gyeong (Yang Metal) | 甲 Gap (Yang Wood) |
| 辛 Sin (Yin Metal) | 乙 Eul (Yin Wood) |
| 壬 Im (Yang Water) | 丙 Byeong (Yang Fire) |
| 癸 Gye (Yin Water) | 丁 Jeong (Yin Fire) |
How it works in a chart
- With an Eating God or Hurting Officer producing it, skill becomes business: the entrepreneur’s pattern.
- It needs a Day Master strong enough to manage it. On a weak chart, big money is read as big strain.
- Rob Wealth next to Indirect Wealth is the pattern of companions fighting over wealth (群劫爭財): losses through partners, friends or competition.
- It restrains the Indirect Resource, bringing practicality to a mind that otherwise drifts.
What to watch
- Overextension: too many projects, too much leverage.
- Treating money lightly because more is always expected.
- Generosity that outruns income.
