Seven Killings (Pyeongwan)

七殺편관

Seven Killings (七殺, Pyeongwan or Chilsal) is the element that controls your Day Master, in the same polarity: pressure, power, crisis and the drive to overcome.

What it means

Seven Killings is the element that controls the Day Master in the same polarity: for Gap (Yang Wood), 庚 (Yang Metal). Yang against yang, or yin against yin, has none of the give of a balanced pair, so the control is felt as force. The name comes from counting: starting from the Day Master as one, it is the seventh stem. Koreans more often call it Pyeongwan (偏官), the Indirect Officer.

It stands for pressure and for the power that comes from mastering pressure: the demanding boss, the rival, the emergency, and also command, courage and decisiveness.

Which stem is your Seven Killings

A ten god is a relationship, so it depends on your Day Master. Find your Day Master on the left; the stem on the right is your Seven Killings. A branch counts as Seven Killings when its main hidden stem is that stem.

甲 Gap (Yang Wood)庚 Gyeong (Yang Metal)

丙 Byeong (Yang Fire)壬 Im (Yang Water)

How it works in a chart

Seven Killings is judged by what handles it. There are three classic answers.

  • Eating God controls it (食神制殺): pressure met with skill.
  • Resource transforms it (殺印相生): pressure absorbed and turned into learning and authority.
  • Yang Blade stands up to it (羊刃駕殺): strength meeting strength, the pattern of commanders.

Where it shines

Military, police, prosecution, surgery, emergency work, competitive sport, turning around failing organisations. Roles where someone has to decide quickly under threat.

What to watch

With nothing to handle it, and especially on a weak Day Master, Seven Killings is read as chronic stress: overwork, a sense of being under attack, strain on health. Readers advise building the remedy the chart lacks: a skill, a teacher, or stamina.

On SajuPaste the same label can also appear in the stars row of a pillar. There it marks a branch whose main hidden stem is the Seven Killings of the stem sitting above it: pressure concentrated inside that one pillar.

Questions people ask

Is Seven Killings bad?
It is the most demanding of the ten gods, not the worst. Uncontrolled, it is stress. Controlled by an Eating God, softened by Resource or matched by a Yang Blade, it is the mark of people who hold real power.
Why is it called Seven Killings?
Count the ten Heavenly Stems starting from your Day Master as number one. The seventh is the stem that controls you with the same polarity. “Killings” reflects how harsh that unsoftened control was thought to be.
